Do You Want to Take a Peek Into My Art Studio?
As you may know, we refer to my art studio as my "princess palace!" I spend many hours a day in our home's unique space. I love to look at other artists' studios, so I thought you might like to peek at mine!
Welcome to My Home Art Studio
A few years after our children left the nest, we turned one of the bedrooms into my art studio. We first turned it into an office for our small online business, but within a few months, I found myself doing lots of painting there, and my art supplies took over.
We ripped out the carpet and installed a laminate oak floor. Laminate makes for easy cleanup when you are dripping paint! We painted the room a cheery turquoise color. Moe made the L-shaped desk. It has a laminate top and lots of storage. One of the sides faces a window and looks out over the field across the street. I keep my watercolor supplies here. I love painting here as it offers excellent lighting and incredible views, and I see the comings and goings up and down the road. We installed shelving, overhead lighting, more outlets, and an electric fireplace. The fireplace makes it warm and cozy on cold winter days. I have a speaker on my desk, so I can listen to music or an occasional podcast while I create.
Another Painting Area in My Art Studio
I took so many art courses and bought so many supplies that I needed an additional surface for painting and supplies. I set up one of the folding tables that we had on the opposite wall. This is where I keep my alcohol inks, acrylic paints, and various tools I need to use with these mediums. It is covered with plastic to make cleaning easy.
There is enough room under the table for a small air compressor, more paints, old food trays that I keep as disposable palettes and canvas in progress.
Moe made shelving so I didn’t have to keep all my paintings on the floor. The bottom shelf holds more supplies!
More Storage Space
Lots of storage space in an art studio is a must! Besides my storage space in and on my desk, I have two rolling cabinets with drawers. I also have a closet with lots of shelving. With all of that, I still have storage boxes and piles under my table!
I hope you enjoyed a glimpse into my "princess palace." It is a constantly evolving space, but it is always an inspirational place to be!
